Unifying Politics and Canadians

It appears clear to me that Canadians would greatly benefit from a more unified House of Commons, where members work together more as a family and less as Political Rivals. It is true that Re-Election is an important priority for moving ideas forward, especially those that oppose popular perspectives or have little representation, but at what cost? Isn’t it more important to agree with decisions that move the Country in a favourable direction sooner than later compared to putting up obstacles that might result in ideals being more fully met later on? This is a sometimes a complicated question and I believe it must be met with Humility, especially when it comes to re-election motives.

 

When it comes to Elections, Voters need to value individual Candidates over their Party Affiliation. The Green Party has a Candidate Pledge Form that allows their Candidates to represent their own views over that of the Party’s Platform. This is good wisdom because it decreases the potential for Political Puppet Problems, of which there are many! Psychologically, when Elected Candidates are not representing perspectives they (fully) agree with, they tend to lose interest and become negligent, and can even fall to corruption, especially when Special Interest Groups apply pressure (too common!?). Our hearts must be as fully invested as possible! Voters Beware, and Voters be diligent in researching your Candidates! Make sure they write their own articles and speeches, as well as have suitable credentials to contribute to the decisions made by the House of Common. The topics of the last paragraph are not the only faults of our Democratic Campaign Practices that we need to become intolerant towards. When political opinions meet, there can be an uprising of powerful emotions that hinder effective communication, the potential of our Democracy, and unity of our Country. Candor is vital to the decision making process – many successful businesses praise it - but over expressing emotions of a negative nature is suppressive. When the public sees Candidates or Elected Individuals (ex. Members of Parliament) being nasty to each other, it makes it OK for political supporters, and the public in general to be nasty as well.

 

We lead by example on the Campaign Trail, once in Parliament, and in other positions that are in the Public Eye. Whether it is a child, a fan or a member of our team, when leaders act inappropriately, it makes it more OK, and sometimes creates expectation for others to follow suit. I ask all Political People, as well as Celebrities of all types to fully own your power and be consistent with well mannered, sophisticated, and all qualities of Virtue for the sake of a more Peaceful, Cooperative and Successful Future. I also ask the Public to lift-up those that champion these behaviours while boycotting those that do not.

 

Final Comment

 

The Members of Parliament are servants to the people of Canada, and all of Earth to a degree. We all must value what is done with power over who owns it. If a competing Party does well, make it easy for them to move forward.
